What is Transitional Kindergarten? |
![]() Effective January 2012, California law requires a child to be five years old between October 2, 2013 & December 2, 2013 to be enrolled in kindergarten for the 2013-2014 year. The law also requires that school districts offer a one-year Transitional Kindergarten program that will serve as the bridge to Kindergarten. This program provides the “gift of time” for younger students to engage in a rich early educational experience and is part of a two-year kindergarten program that is designed to ensure ongoing academic success. Transitional Kindergarten classes will be in place at selected sites throughout our District. |
