Student Assistance Program

The Student Assistance Program (SAP), within the Safe Schools/Healthy Students department of PUSD, is made up of a select team of staff who specialize in helping students deal with problems that interfere with their learning.  This includes helping students deal with peer conflicts, trauma, substance abuse, family distress, or any number of issues that threaten our students' success.  The SAP process will also be used for the initial identification and assessment of students in need of mental health services.  Mental Health services are provided at two levels: 1) early preventative services to reduce the risk of onset or delay the onset of emotional and behavioral problems and 2) to identify those children who may require an appropriate referral, treatment and follow-up services.  Services may include individual, family, or group counseling.
