School Uniform Dress Code

The procedures described below are applicable to Golden Springs PreK – 8. All students (except those deemed exempt) must adhere to the school uniform policy.

School Uniform Regulations

Tops: Required "polo" style buttoned-down collared styled shirt include all solid colors.  School colors are Royal Blue, Light Blue, Gold, or White “polo” style shirts.  Long or short-sleeved White Butterfly-collared style shirts for girls.  All shirts must be tucked in. Any tops worn underneath the uniform for layering purposes must be in solid uniform colors. Bottoms: Khaki or Navy colored bottoms are required. No denim material will be allowed. Options include: Plain front or pleated pants – must fall at the natural waist o No skinny pants or frayed hemlines Skorts Capris Shorts o No frayed hemlines Jumpers – shorts must be worn underneath Skirts – may not fall shorter than 2 inches above the knee and shorts must be worn underneath Belt: Black, brown, or solid uniform color belts are required for all 3rd- 8th grade students if there are belt loops on the pants. All belts must be worn tight to the waist. Shoes: Shoes must cover heels and toes and must not hinder the student from participating in physical activities. It is strongly suggested that students wear athletic tennis shoes or shoes with rubber soles. Socks: Socks are required by all students at all times and may only be in solid uniform colors. Tights and leggings may also be worn, but must be in solid uniform colors. Outerwear: Students may wear any coat or jacket to school. However, no hoods may be worn inside the buildings or hallways.

Sweaters or sweatshirts that are solid, school uniform colors may be worn over uniform clothing. Hair: Extreme hair color/style that causes a disruption or interferes with the learning environment will not be allowed.

Not Acceptable on Campus

Items of apparel, or adjustment in appearance that distracts from the learning environment will be held in violation of the dress policy.

Policy for free dress days

Students will be allowed to come to school in “Free Dress” on Fridays in accordance with the following dress code: “Free Dress” is a privilege that can be revoked. Acceptable dress for “Free Dress” days will be consistent with the dress code outlined below.

Pants/Shorts: (Male and Female students)

  • Pants and shorts must fit at the waist and must not be
    worn more than one size too large.
  • Belts must be worn tight at the waist if pants or shorts
    are oversized one size.

Not Acceptable

  • Short-shorts
  • Baggy oversized shirts/pants/shorts that restrict normal range of motion

Shirts/Blouses: (Male and Female students)

  • All shirts that hang more than 5 inches below the waist must be tucked in Thank tops and sport shirts must have at least 1 inch wide straps

Not Acceptable

  • Midriffs or short tops that expose a bare midriff
  • Shirts/blouses with spaghetti straps
  • Shirts with references to alcohol, tobacco, illegal substances, or displaying profane/inappropriate language, logos or symbols
  • Baggy oversized shirts/blouses that restricts normal range of motion

Shoes: (Male and Female students)

  • For safety reasons, students are required to wear shoes, which cover heels and toes and that do not hinder the student form participating in physical activities. We strongly suggest that students wear athletic tennis shoes that are appropriate for their physical fitness program.
  • Shoes must be buckled or tied securely to insure that they stay on the feet in order to prevent accidents on the playground Socks are required by all students at all times

Not Acceptable:

  • Open toe shoes
  • Slippers Flip flops/Thongs/Slip on sandals
  • High heels/Platforms Backless shoes
  • Heely roller shoes or shoes with wheels in the soles of the shoe

Jewelry and Accessories: (Male and Female students)

  • Students may wear identification jewelry if it is securely fastened around their neck or wrist.

Not Acceptable

  • Jewelry or accessories that symbolize drug or alcohol use or that express inflammatory statements may not be worn or brought to school
  • Dangling wallet or key chains
  • Studded bracelets or belts

School Colors

Golden Springs’ colors are royal blue and gold.

School Mascot

Golden Springs’ mascot is the Cougar.

School T-shirts and sweatshirts are available for sale from our PTO or and may be purchased in the main office or on line at GoldenSpringcougars.com

We highly recommend dressing your child in school colors for all off-campus, school-sponsored field trips and activities.
