Frequently Asked Questions Q. Who sponsors the Family Preservation program? A. The Los Angeles County Departments of Children and Family Services, Mental Health, and Probation sponsor the Family Preservation program.
Q. Who are the primary recipients of Family Preservation services? A. a. Families referred by the Hotlines b. Families who volunteer in order to reduce the imminent risk of coming under the jurisdiction of the Juvenile Court for dependency c. Children who have been removed from the physical custody of their parents, but can be quickly reunified if Family Preservation services are provided d. Children who are at home with their families under order of the Juvenile Court, and can, with Family Preservation services, be left safely in the care of their families without court intervention
Q. May a parent request participation in the Family Preservation program? A. Yes, by calling (909) 397-4491. However, to join the Family Preservation program, there must be an allegation of need.
Q. May a school administrator refer a family for participation? A. School administrator may refer families through the Los Angeles County Department of Child and Family Services (DCFS). Program participation is at the discretion of DCFS.
Q. Who actually provides services? A.
