Mental Health Services

 

Mental Health Services are available to children enrolled in Child Development-run Educational Services programs (Early Head Start, Cal-Safe/School Readiness Initiative, Head Start, State Preschool, Los Angeles Universal Preschool) and include but are not limited to:

  • Developmental screening for all children enrolled in Early Head Start and Head Start programs, and for children in any Child Development program with a suspected disability.
  • Staff trainings and support in working with children with behavioral or other mental health concerns.
  • Consultations for parents regarding any concerns regarding their child’s development
  • Case Study meetings for infants and toddlers regarding child/family concerns.
  • Prescriptive Intervention Team meetings for preschool-aged children with behavioral or other mental health concerns
  • Student Success Team meetings for preschool-aged children with behavioral or other mental health concerns
  • Training opportunities for parents to learn about:
  • Domestic violence/child abuse
  • Discipline
  • How to work with your child at home
  • Typical child development in a variety of skills (cognitive, language, motor skills, behavior)
  • Other topics of parents’ interests or needs
  • Trainings for teen parents attending the Cal Safe program
  • Connection to community resources to support children, parents and families in understanding and addressing specific behavioral or other mental health concerns at home and school.

School Psychologist Business hours vary depending on program need however are ususally:

Monday – Friday

8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

 

Mental Health Consultant Business hours vary depending on program need however are usually:

Tuesdays 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Thursdays   9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

Disabilities Services

  • Staff trainings and support in working with children with suspected and identified disabilities.
  • Consultations for parents regarding any concerns regarding their child’s development and/or Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP) or Individual Education Program (IEP)
  • Case Study meetings for infants and toddlers regarding child/family concerns.
  • Prescriptive Intervention Team meetings for preschool-aged children with suspected and identified disabilities.
  • Student Success Team meetings for preschool-aged children with suspected and identified disabilities.
  • Training opportunities for parents to learn about:
  • IFSP/IEP processes
  • How to work with your child at home
  • Typical child development in a variety of skills (cognitive, language, motor skills, behavior)
  • Transitioning your child to preschool and to kindergarten programs
  • Connection to community resources to support children, parents and families in understanding and addressing specific disabilities at home and school.
