One of the many benefits that PUSD students enjoy is the close partnerships our district has with all the nearby colleges and universities. They afford our students the opportunity to learn from renowned professors and their students, and to gain more insight into specific fields of study and even career options. One of those close partnerships is with Western University of Health Sciences. WesternU is a real friend to PUSD and our students, including those at Palomares Academy of Health Sciences. Each year, PAHS students spend a day at WesternU - "Palomares Day at WesternU" - learning more about medicine, medical school, and medical careers. This year's trek focused on pharmacology and featured an opportunity for students to actually make toothpaste, taking part in a graduate-level Pharmacology Compounding lecture and lab. They now know what goes into toothpaste and why, and in the process they were exposed to the overall idea of pharmacological study and careers. Thank you, WesternU, for all you do to enhance our students' learning and future options.
