The students in Mr. Burnett's 6th grade class made a quilt. Each child drew a picture in their square. They then used a sewing machine to add two strips to their square. The quilt was put together by a volunteer.
The students were reading THE GIVER. In this novel the young people care for the elderly. To bring the novel to life, to help other and to service the elderly, the students created this beautiful quilt. After Open House the quilt will be donated to an Alzheimer's Study Group. We are hoping that the elderly person who receives this quilt is a retired school teacher and that the quilt will remind him or her of the joy of teaching.
